Qualifications:
- Graduated from an accredited Bachelor's in Nursing or a Master of Science in Nursing
- Associate in Nursing Degree may be considered for current Huntington Hospital employee, must be currently enrolled in a BSN or MSN program and commit to completing within 2 years from date of transfer/promotion.
- Newly graduated Registered Nurse with a total of less than one year of nursing experience in any area by the start of the program
- Valid California Registered Nursing License

Job Summary:
Responsible for coordination of care to meet identified needs of the patient/family. Supervises the management of patient care utilizing critical thinking and nursing process, discharge planning, resource identification, linking and scheduling patients with required services, monitoring care delivery, advocating for the patient, care planning and evaluating outcomes. Coordinates patient care across the health care continuum, and assists other team members with meeting individual patient needs.
This position may require flexibility of hours.
12 hour shifts at Huntington Health are overtime-based (not a straight time rate for all 12 hours). Therefore, employees who work a full 12-hour shift will be paid their base rate for 8 hours AND overtime (1.5) for hours up to 12.
Education:
For internal promotions to a New Grad RN, the employee must be currently enrolled in a BSN or MSN program & degree must be completed within 2 years of DOH to a New Grad RN position.
External New Grad RN Hires, BSN or higher is required.
Experience and Training:
Active participation and successful completion of assigned New Grad training program, required.
Successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmia course curriculum within 60 days of hire, required.
Basic computer skills/experience with computerized documentation systems, required.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association within 3 months of hire/transfer
Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within 3 months of hire/transfer
Description of units
Neurosciences Stroke Center - Neuroscience Stroke Telemetry Unit, Comprehensive Stroke certified. The Neurosciences Stroke Unit provides constant neurological and cardiac monitoring (via telemetry) for all neurological and stroke patients. The type of patients the Neuroscience Stroke Center serves includes but is not limited to transient ischemic attack, myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, seizures, cranial nerve disease, meningitis, stable traumatic brain injury and stable spinal cord injury.
Float Pool - Float Pool RNs serve patients on all Medical, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Rehab, DOU (only if cross-trained) and procedural area such as Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology. Float pool staff are assigned to these areas as needed to address staffing variances. Float Pool RNs do not serve patients in Emergency Department, Behavioral Health and Critical Care Unit.
Cardiothoracic Unit (CTU) - 5 West is a cardiac unit that provides constant cardiac monitoring for all patients via telemetry and focuses on caring for patients with cardiac dysfunction. Patients admitted to the Cardiothoracic Unit will require care for including but not limited to the following conditions: Stable suspected or proven myocardial infarction, symptomatic cardiac arrhythmia, post-op cardiac surgery, post-op thoracic surgery, prolonged ischemic chest pain or unstable angina, congestive heart failure, electrical and chemical cardioversion, pacemaker implantation or repair, ICD implantation and other cardiac procedures.
Medical Surgical/Telemetry 4 West - Medical Telemetry is a general medical unit with an emphasis on cardiac telemetry monitoring, caring for a wide variety of medical patients with diagnoses including; Covid, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, diabetes, renal failure, GI bleed, sepsis, and neurological disorders especially those requiring telemetry monitoring and/or vasoactive drips.
Med/Tele Station 45 (short-stay observation unit) - Station 45 is an observation/short stay unit that is designed to serve patients with variety of diagnosis like Chest Pain, Syncope, Cellulitis, Asthma. The unit is created to decrease the constraints in Emergency Department. It is a fast-paced unit with several resources that are available to support the nursing staff. The goal is to assess the patient, treat and monitor if patient can be discharged before 24 hrs. The unit has strong leadership with 18 plus years' experience that supports the model. It is a model unit that has proven as a best practice to open beds to the community. It is a monitored unit with all staff requiring ACLS to provide care for the cardiac population.
Surgical Unit - 4 East serves general surgical and trauma patients specializing in the care of the general surgical patient pre- and postoperatively, as well as the care of trauma patients. Additionally, the unit has the capacity to care for patients who have undergone neurosurgeries such as craniotomes, laminectomies, spinal fusions, and deep stimulations.
Surgical/Telemetry Unit - 5 East serves general surgical and trauma patients. Specializing in the delivery of care to the general surgical patient pre- and post-operatively. Additionally, we specialize in the care of trauma patients and are a designated Bariatric Center of Excellence and therefore specializing int eh care of patients that have undergone Bariatric and Metabolic surgery.
Medicine/Oncology 6W - patients with diagnoses of cancer and those undergoing chemotherapy as well as radiation therapy. The department offers inpatient medical services including Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Renal, Neurology, Endocrine, Hematology, Surgical Oncology, and Radiation Therapy with specific nurse competencies in Oncology. Administration of intravenous, intramuscular, intrathecal, and subcutaneous chemotherapy agents

Pay Range: The estimated base rate for this position is $46.00 - $46.00.
Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.

- Base rate paid for the first 8 hours of work in a day
- 1.5x overtime pay for hours 8-12 worked in a workday.
- 2x double-time pay for any hours beyond 12 in a workday
This ensures that employees are fairly compensated for the full length of their shift, with enhanced pay as their workday progresses. The estimated blended hourly rate, accounting for these premiums on a 12-hour shift, ranges from $53.67 to $53.67.
