Compensation Range:

Anticipated compensation range of $143,520.00 – $172,220.00 / Year depending on qualifications and experience.

Expectations:

The Patient Safety Officer is responsible for developing, assisting, implementing, integrating, and overseeing the facility-wide patient safety program and compliance. This position aids others within the facility towards process improvements that will support the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse outcomes. This position provides direction for safety assessments, coordinates the activities of the patient safety function or committee, educates other practitioners on the system-based cause for medical errors, consults with management and staff, and communicates literature-based ideas regarding effective patient safety strategies to others within the organization. Key responsibilities of this position also include working with all services to hardwire reliable delivery of healthcare systems that incorporate best practice patient safety methodologies. Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with all employees and medical staff in implementing best practices for patient safety and fostering a Culture of Safety. Ensures compliance by educating and updating staff and employees on patient safety initiatives and best practices. This position requires flexibility of hours.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Bachelor’s degree in health administration or health related field. Master’s degree preferred. Clinical background is required.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Five years’ experience in an acute care hospital facility in same or similar position preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience in patient safety preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)

SKILLS:
Knowledge of accreditation standards and/or policy formulation. Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills, problem solving, program development and computer skills.
