Expectations:

For the past 40 years, we have offered a Graduate Medical Education program – a unique feature for a not-for-profit community hospital. Our program includes an internal medicine residency and a general surgery residency. Nearly 1,000 medical and surgical residents have taken advantage of performing their residency in this community-based environment, complemented by rotations through Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. Of these, more than one-third find themselves returning upon graduation to practice locally, thus ensuring the future of care in the San Gabriel Valley.

Responsibilities Directly supervises resident medicine teams in the overall care and treatment of the patient. Provides timely and complete documentation as outlined by CMS Teaching Physician Documentation requirements. Provides didactic and hands-on training of the resident in terms of diagnosis, physical examination, interpretation of tests, procedures and proper documentation. Attends Journal Club, Case Conference, and 60% of  Morning Report and Grand Rounds. Reports directly to the program director. Teaches rotating medical residents about inpatient medicine attending duties (“House  Services”). Participates in scholarly activities including research endeavors, quality improvement projects, medical staff/hospital committees or interview weeks. Participates in quality improvement initiatives. Attends 60% of mortality and morbidity conferences.
