Expectations:
The Operating Room Clinical Coordinator is a frontline perioperative registered nurse leader who functions within assigned service line(s) to support quality care, safety, expert practice, performance improvement, and physician and patient satisfaction. RN Clinical Coordinators function as a resource for their specified service lines within the department and engage in training and development to elevate perioperative nursing practice specific to their assigned service line. Effective clinical operations is the primary focus of this role but candidates perform duties in any nursing capacity as needed or directed.
RN Clinical Coordinators work collaboratively with multiple departments including but not limited to sterile processing, peer Clinical Coordinators, RNFA’s, Charge Nurses (PFC’s), and the management team to ensure development and adherence to established departmental policies procedures, standards, objectives, quality improvements, safety, environment of care and infection control guidelines. This position requires flexibility of hours, standby/call, rotating weekends and is eligible for overtime pay. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary depending on department or program needs without changing nature or scope of this position or level of responsibility.
EDUCATION:
Effective for hires and promotions on or after 11/01/17. BSN required, MSN preferred. Diploma or transcripts on highest degree earned required.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
A minimum of three years recent (within last two years) acute care operating room experience, required.
Five or more years acute care operating room experience preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
Preferred:
Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) credential issued by the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI)
SKILLS:
Scrub experience preferred.
Demonstrated process improvement ability with associated outcomes, preferred.
Experience working effectively with vendor representatives, preferred.
Strong understanding of sterile processing principles preferred.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills preferred.
This position requires flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of patients, personnel, physicians, and department operations.
