The Huntington Hospital New Grad Residency Program
What are the requirements to apply?
- Graduated from an accredited bachelor's in nursing or a Master of Science in Nursing. (Associate in Nursing Degree may be considered for current Huntington Hospital employee, must commit to obtaining a bachelor's in nursing within two years.)
- Newly graduated Registered Nurse with a total of less than one year of nursing experience in any area by the start of the program
- Valid California Registered Nursing License
What should be included in the application?
In addition to the online application, must include a resume and personal statement. The personal statement must not exceed two pages (12-pt font, double spaced) and should include:
- why you selected nursing as a profession
- what being a nurse means to you
- what will you bring to the profession of nursing at Huntington Hospital
When applying, you will be required to upload copies of your unofficial academic transcripts, two letters of recommendation, a description of any volunteer service you've performed, and copies of your California Registered Nurse license (Primary Source Verification document from the BRN Web Site) and certifications (BLS/ACLS etc.).
How often does Huntington Health offer the nurse residency program?
The Nurse Residency Program has cohorts in January, May, and August each year; start dates and areas of specialty may vary based on organizational needs.
The Residency program will offer 3 cohorts in 2026. Start dates and position availability is dependent on unit-specific hiring needs. New Grad RN positions are posted at Huntington Hospital's careers page prior to the start of each program.
