Our goal is to provide you and your dependents with a comprehensive, high-quality benefit package that adds to your employment satisfaction and financial security. Our benefit programs offer you freedom of choice and tax-saving features, at an affordable price. You’ll find your rates on a separate sheet included with your enrollment materials. As an eligible employee your benefits are effective the first of the month following your date of hire. You may choose from a wide variety of plans designed to offer you the benefits that make the most sense for you and your family. You may waive health coverage if you are insured elsewhere.

State Disability Insurance:

The Hospital participates in the California State Disability Insurance Program, which provides benefits to employees out of work due to a disability.

Workers’ Compensation:

This insurance protection covers medical expenses, hospital expenses and disability payment in the event of an on-the-job injury. An employee must report any work-related injury or illness to their manager.

Paid Time off (PTO):

The PTO plan combines sick days, vacation days and holidays into one account of paid days off. PTO days (or hours) may be used after 28 days of continuous employment for vacation, holiday, illness, family, emergencies, religious observances, preventive health care, personal business and other excused elective absences.

Accrual rates:
0 months – 5 years: 200 hrs/yr
5 years – 10 years: 240hrs/yr
10+ years: 280hrs/yr

Employees may accumulate up to 1-1/2 times the annual accrual.
PTO hours are pro-rated for part-time employees.

Holiday Pay:

Six holidays are paid at time and a half. The recognized holidays are:

    • New Year’s Day
    • Fourth of July
    • Thanksgiving Day
• Memorial Day
• Labor Day
• Christmas Day

Shift Differential:

Shift differential is paid to employees who work evening and night shifts.

Extended Illness Reserve (EIR):

In addition to PTO hours, a full-time employee with benefits accrues 48 Extended Illness hours per year. EIR hours are pro-rated for part-time employees. EIR hours may be used after 28 days of continuous employment and after three days of disability. EIR hours may be used to supplement State Disability or Workers’ Compensation in the event of extended illness.

Huntington Hospital Retirement Plan (Defined Benefit Plan):

Eligibility:

To participate, the employer must be:
    • 21 years of age
    • Employed for at least one year and work 1,000 hours

Huntington pays 100% of the cost of the benefit. Enrollment in the plan is automatic. The employee is 100% vested in the plan after five years of service provided the employee worked at least 1,000 hours each year.

Huntington Savings Plan Tax Sheltered Account (TSA) 403(b):

Upon employment, employees may participate in the Tax Sheltered Account, which provide additional retirement income. Contributions are made pre-tax up to the IRS limits, and will reduce taxable income.

The employee will receive “free money” with a hospital match on TSA contributions after being employed for one year, worked 1,000 hours, and reached age 21.

Huntington will match 25 cents on the dollar each pay period up to 4% of earnings. The maximum hospital match is 1% of eligible annual earnings.

Social Security:

Effective upon employment, social security provides financial assistance and Medicare at retirement.

Tuition Reimbursement Program:

Full-time and part-time employees may apply for benefits after 90 days of employment. Employees are eligible to apply for tuition reimbursement for courses related to career advancement within Huntington. Benefits are $1,500 - $2,500 per calendar year (based on years of service and pro-rated for part-time hours). Approval must be obtained prior to starting the course work.

Loan Forgiveness Program:

We also offer a Loan Forgiveness Program featuring a $15,000 scholarship that will be awarded to fourth-semester graduating BSN nursing students hired to work at Huntington Hospital. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic ability, and a desire to become outstanding in the field of nursing. You must have a CA RN license, GPA of 3.0, two recommendation letters from professors and/or previous employers, proof of loan commitment, and completion of application for eligibility.

On-Site Concierge Service:

Rewards employees with more quality free time outside of the workday. This is an on-site program designed to care for employees’ personal ‘to do’ lists, and enhance their work/life balance in a convenient, reliable, and affordable way.

Parking Facilities:

Free parking in employee parking areas.

Focus One Community Credit Union:

Effective upon employment, employees are eligible for credit union banking services. After six months of employment, employees are eligible to apply for loans.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP):

Effective upon employment, this in-house EAP provides for confidential, short-term counseling.

Employee Discounts:

Discounts are offered for various amusement parks, activities and movie theatres. Employees may also receive a discount in the cafeteria and gift shop.

Employee Fitness:

Employees are eligible to join Fitness Centers at a discounted rate.

Employee Rideshare Program:

This program encourages employees to find alternatives to driving to work alone. Incentives include preferred parking, discounted transit passes, and concierge dollars.

Travel Accident Insurance:

(Business travel only) Ten times annual base salary to a maximum of one million dollars.
